NEWSFLASH: Latest news on the negotiations

Nurses
A majority of nursing employees have voted in favour of approving the Northern Territory Public Sector Nurses’ 2008-2011 Union Collective Agreement. The Commissioner for Public Employment has issued a Bulletin on the ballot results and the processes for salary payments and commencement of the Agreement.

Teachers and Educators
The Commissioner for Public Employment and the Australian Education Union have finalised and signed off the Northern Territory Public Sector 2008-2010 Teacher and Educator Union Collective Agreement. Today ballot papers are being mailed to all teachers and educators so that the agreement can be formally approved by employees. You should also read the Information Statement which is required to be made available to all employees. Union members and non-members are eligible to vote and the ballot closes at 9.00am on 10 December 2008.

Prison Officers
Following lodgement of the Prison Officer (NTPS) 2008-2011 Union Collective Agreement, the Workplace Authority have provided a declaration receipt which we are obliged to provide a copy of to all employees covered by the Agreement. The Workplace Authority will now assess the Agreement to determine whether or not it passes the no-disadvantage test. The Agreement will come into operation on the seventh day after the date of issue of a letter advising that the Agreement has passed the no-disadvantage test.

NT Fire and Rescue Service
The Commissioner has made an enhanced offer to the LHMU for a new firefighters Workplace Agreement. A summary of the offer can be found in the latest Bulletin. A detailed explanation of the offer can be found in Fact Sheet 3.

NT Police
The Northern Territory Police Force Consent Agreement 2008 was certified by the Police Arbitral Tribunal on 1 August 2008. The Agreement is operative from 30 June 2008 and will remain in force until 29 June 2011. A summary of the key features of the Agreement can be found in the latest Bulletin.
